FOOD. HISTORY. LAND. CULTURE.
For the love
of this place.
Parish & Plate is a living field journal of South Louisiana and Acadiana.
We’re here for the conversations that run long. The recipes people carry with them. The landscapes that shape a day, and the places that hold a community’s memory.
We want to document as much as we can: the people, food, traditions, and everyday life of this region. Some stories begin at a table. Our first began with an unexpected stop at Booth’s Grocery on the way to the beach.
As places change, those records matter. Our work reaches across South Louisiana and Acadiana, one visit and one story at a time.

IN THE FIELD
Listen closely.
Leave room for more.
Our journal brings together photographs, conversations, and observations from the places we visit. We distinguish a remembered story from a verified historical fact, and leave room for people to tell their own stories.
The map connects those stories to their places. The passport invites you to go out, pay attention, and keep a record of your own.
YOUR PASSPORT & YOUR DATA
A personal keepsake.
Saved with you
Your stamps and notes are stored in this browser, on this device. We don’t create an account, upload your passport, or automatically sync it. A backup lets you move it to another browser or recover it later.
A one-time location check
Only when you ask to collect a stamp, your browser requests your location. The check happens on your device. We save the place and date, not your precise coordinates. Location access must be enabled, and you must be close to the stop.
Maps & connections
The interactive map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives normal connection information such as your IP address. Read OpenStreetMap’s privacy policy ↗. This site adds no analytics or advertising trackers.
A keepsake, not a reward
Stamps are for your own journal. They aren’t proof of purchase, admission, or eligibility for a reward. Visit public places respectfully and follow posted access rules.
